 “MAP YOUR NEIGHBORHOOD PROGRAM”

The QR Emergency Preparedness Committee members learned about the Map Your Neighborhood Program (MYN) to prepare for personal and neighborhood recovery after a disaster.  This program was share with our Emergency Response Court Captains.  The program was developed by the Washington State Emergency Management Office.  There is a streamlined set of nine steps for getting through the first hour after a major disaster when emergency responders would be over-whelmed, and citizens would have to take care of the immediate needs of their families and neighbors.

“NeighborsSupportingNeighbors” PROGRAM:

It is set up to provide three parts:

  • Loaning and gifting items stored or infrequently used or no longer needed
  • Person to Person: Volunteering to help a neighbor i.e., shopping, chores, doctor trips, transportation, etc.
  • Requesting an item that may be available for you to borrow, or to request help from a neighbor
